Montreat is a wonderful vacation destination. Here are some commonly asked questions along with the answers:

Q; How do I reserve a house?
A: Once you decide which house to reserve a contract will be sent to you either by email or fax. Upon receipt of half the rent and signed/dated contract, your reservation will be secure.

Q: How much is the deposit?
A: Half the amount of total rent is required to hold a reservation.

Q: When is the balance due?
A: The balance is due by May 1.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?
A: Cancellation will be allowed once another renter is secured. A refund minus $50 will be returned.

Q: What are check in and check out times?
A: Please plan to arrive after 4:00 pm on Saturday and leave by 11:00 am on Saturday.

Q: Do we need to bring our own linens?
A: Yes, bring the sheets, pillow cases and bath cloths and towels that your group requires. Pillows, blankets and spreads are provided.

Q: What do I do in case of emergency?
A: Dial 911 from any house phone, even though there may be no phone service. North Carolina state law requires this. Local police and fire numbers are posted in each house.

Q: What do I do with house trash when I leave?
A: Put ALL garbage and trash in garbage cans within the green metal containers at edge of the yard.

Q: When is garbage picked up?
A: Mondays and Fridays are pick up days.

Q: Do I recycle in Montreat?
A: Please do. Recyclables are to be put in plastic bags and placed beside the green metal box on pick up days. The town of Montreat issues fines for litter, so be sure to put this out only on Mondays and Fridays.

Q: Where do I get the key?
A: Each house has its own place. Instructions will be given upon reservation.

Q: How much cleaning do I have to do before leaving?
A: Leave the house in good order for the cleaning service. ALL food must be removed from the refrigerator, counters, cabinets, etc.

Q: What do I do with reusable food items?
A: Drop off at the Montreat Gate as you leave. There will be people to receive it to distribute in the community.
